FIRST TIME IN BRIGHTON?
Discover Brighton and Hove actually!
On foot or by coach, this half-day tour can take you from the charm of the 'Lanes' in the heart of the city, to the grandeur of the Regency squares, crescents and palace.
We will walk through the alleys and 'twittens' that the coach cannot reach. I will tell you about the amazing Royal Pavilion from the outside, but of course you will also want to explore the inside - either take the guided or audio tour.
At the end of your tour, for a meal or a drink, I can give you a recommendation for a traditional pub, a cream tea or fish and chips.
BRIGHTON NORTH TO SOUTH
Starting at Brighton station, we will walk through the bohemian North Laine area with its avant-garde shops and boutiques, cafés and theatres.
We will eventually arrive at The Royal Pavilion – the most extraordinary residence you will see in this part of the country.
The Pavilion overlooks the old Steine – the grassy area where the fishermen used to dry their nets, is now a series of gardens and fountains and the main road down to the seafront. We will wind our way through the little streets and alleyways of The Lanes following the street pattern of the original fishing village but nowadays home to many jewellery and antique shops, cafes and restaurants.
Then, to finish our walk, we will emerge onto the seafront at the splendid Victorian Palace Pier.
BRIGHTON SEAFRONT EAST TO WEST
For this walk we will meet near to Brighton pier and stroll past the beachfront shops, cafés, nightclubs, art and seafood stalls to the promenade and lawns of Hove.
You will discover the story of the seafront as it grew from a small fishing village to a health resort during the 18th Century, then, as a destination for day trippers in the 19th Century to present day venue for live music events.
We will admire the seafront architecture dominated by the Grand Hotel and the Metropole Hotel, the ruins of the West Pier and, as we reach Hove, the elegant Regency squares.
